Our website may have gone a little quiet recently, but plenty has been going on behind the scenes, including our usual monthly meet ups, the publication of our first book (which is selling really well by the way), some night photography and a couple of walks in the park.

Anyway, after Jayne’s reminder of the snowy weather we have endured over the last few weeks, Spring seems to have finally arrived, and so it’s time to get cracking with our gallery page once again, as we have lots of great photographs for you to enjoy.

As well as sharing special family moments and capturing the general public going about their daily lives, we have also been slightly self indulgent with the introduction of a monthly chocolate bar award through our themes ‘Work Rest and Play’ and ‘Food Glorious Food’ but that’s about as competitive as we get folks! Nicola and Jayne are just two of our worthy winners, well done ladies. Continue reading
Our 5th November meeting sparkled from beginning to end, as we spent the evening being ‘creative with colour’.

Despite a slight technical issue with sound (I forgot the speakers) we went all scientific this month.
Briefly we looked at why the leaves on our trees display such fantastic colours at this time of year, colour temperature and the colour wheel.
We even managed to squeeze in a discussion on copyright before taking the cameras outside to have a go at photographing fireworks and creating ‘angelic’ light trails with our sparklers.
Big thanks to Dave King for the workshop, and making the evening fun and informative.
Our colourful gallery of photographs in response by members to ‘creative with colour’ follows. Please enjoy… Continue reading

How would you define structure? The dictionary says a complex construction, an organised framework but why not break this down even further. It’s a wonderful word to research with endless possibilities for photography. Continue reading
September marked the beginning of Ockbrook and Borrowash Image Club’s fifth year as a group. By way of a little celebration (and because I do enjoy a photography quiz now and again) we had some fun with the theme of the month ‘Abstract’.
The group was asked to submit images which were not immediately obvious, and we then proceeded to try and figure out what we were looking at. Congratulations to Jayne who guessed the most correct answers and received tickets to a film at Quad.
My choice for Image of the Month is from Kevin. I think the cat’s got the cream in this photograph Kevin, you completely threw us all. Any ideas what it could be?
