Good News Stories: Jayne Seagrave

Just had some brilliant news from member Jayne Seagrave…one of her photographs has been selected by Yahoo UK News, as one of the best Flickr photos around their theme of ‘Time’. Taken on our Rowsley and Matlock walk with the camera, Jayne told me she was ”well chuffed” to hear her image had been chosen.

Why don’t you submit to the Yahoo Your Pictures Flickr group pool and give their themes a go for yourself. Here’s the link to join and to see the selection including Jayne’s pic…

With over 2300 members, and more than 25,000 photographs submitted to the group pool in general, I would say that’s pretty good going Jayne, well done and congratulations.

Treetops Hospice Daffodil Day – Members Invitation

An Invitation to Treetops Hospice Daffodil Day
Saturday 6th April 10am-2.30pm £3

With thousands of daffodils and other beautiful Spring bulbs to enjoy Ockbrook and Borrowash Image Club have been invited to attend this year’s Daffodil Day and Coffee Morning at Treetops Hospice Risley.

Let’s help support this annual fundraising event, as you enjoy wandering with your camera around 12 acres of beautifully maintained grounds. Hopefully your images will also capture the eye of the judges, who will be looking out for that special photograph to produce and sell as a card for Treetops Hospice, through their photography competition.

For full details including terms and conditions and eligibility to register for the competition, please visit www.treetopshospice.org.uk/photo by Thursday 4th April 2013.

“Treetops Hospice provides respite and palliative care for adults with illnesses such as cancer, motor neurone disease and multiple sclerosis in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. We have Hospice at Home nurses providing end of life care in patients homes, a Day Care centre at Risley and a Bereavement Support service in Sandiacre for adults, children and families.

It costs £2 million a year to run our services and we rely heavily on the generosity of our supporters as 70% of our income is generated through voluntary funding. This is why fundraising events such as the Daffodil Day and Coffee Morning are so important to us.

We do hope that your members will attend on 6th April to enjoy our beautiful grounds, tempting refreshments and of course to take part in the competition”
