In the penultimate walk of this series, we will be visiting Bakewell, renowned for its markets dating back some 750 years, as well as the famous ‘pudding’ of course.
Of Anglo-Saxon origin, this very popular historical market town, situated on the banks of the River Wye, is mentioned in the Domesday Book, taking its name from ‘Badequella’ (Bath-well) referring to warm springs. Surrounded by stunning countryside, like the river we will meander through Bakewell taking in both sides of the water on a three mile circular walk, before rewarding ourselves perhaps, with a taste of the Peak District’s best kept secret recipe.
While Bakewell is extremely popular with visitors on any day of the week, Monday offers an opportunity for photography at the livestock market, worthy of a visit and very much an added bonus to our walk. For this reason, there are two dates available this month, please select your preference when completing the form below.
As with all walks numbers are limited and registration will not guarantee you a place, so do please book early to avoid disappointment. Confirmation and further details will be sent out to participants nearer the time.
