December’s meeting is a time for celebration at Ockbrook, with plenty of photography chat over the Christmas fuddle, and time to recognise those who have contributed something special over the year, which is difficult when every member has played their part.
We’re so proud to be a non competitive group, but it’s nice to have the opportunity to say thank you to a few folk in particular…this year’s ‘Ockbrook Oscars’ recipients were Mick, Dave, Martin, Hazel, Geoff, Tony, Barry and Kevin, congratulations to you all.
One of our ‘Oscar’ recipients Barry Cope gave a most interesting and informative talk during the evening. Having travelled extensively, his incredible knowledge, stories and images certainly opened our eyes to life, particularly through his amazing portraiture. We have a Steve McCurry in our midst…here’s a very small selection from over 400 images he shared with us from his travels, which also included China, Vietnam, India, Nepal, Turkey and Ethiopia. (Click on each for full size) Barry is thoroughly recommended if you are looking for speakers at your own club.
Finally we thought you might like to see a few of the results from last month’s Halloween practical session, and some members have also been practising at home…that’s what our Club is all about, experimenting, inspiring, encouraging and having fun.
After all the festivities have ended and we look forward to another year ahead, look out for our new blog page, starting with a round up of 2015, but until then…
Valerie, Mick, Dave and everyone from Ockbrook and Borrowash Image Club wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy healthy New Year. See you in 2016.
